Workshop #2 Survey Results Are In!
The City of West Covina hosted the second community workshop for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan on May 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cortez Park Community and Senior Center. All community members were invited to attend and participate in this important planning initiative.
The workshop began with a presentation by RJM Design Group, the project consultant, who provided an overview of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process, workshop #1 survey results, and encouraged participants to get their friends and neighbors to fill out surveys and attend meetings. A special highlight of the evening was a series of speeches delivered by students from the West Covina Unified School District, who shared their concerns and ideas for the future of local parks.
Outreach efforts included promotions via the city’s website, social media channels, Discover recreation guide, signage at recreation centers and key public locations, and distribution of flyers throughout the community.
A total of 43 people participated in the individual and small group discussions. During the session, attendees completed individual surveys and then engaged in small group discussions to review and synthesize their responses. There were 9 small group discussions. The results of these individual and group activities are included in the survey summary.
To ensure broad community participation, a recording of the workshop presentation was made available on the project website following the event. The survey remained accessible online and in paper format at various city recreation facilities through June 11, 2025. There were 41 online surveys completed.
In total, 93 community members completed the Workshop #2 survey, providing valuable input to guide the development of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
