Workshop #1 Survey Results Are In!
The City of West Covina hosted the first community workshop for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan on April 29, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cameron Park Community Center. All community members were invited to attend and participate in this important planning initiative.
The workshop began with a presentation by RJM Design Group, the project consultant, who provided an overview of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process, including an introduction to the city’s demographics, existing parks, recreation facilities, and current program offerings. A special highlight of the evening was a series of heartfelt speeches delivered by students from the West Covina Unified School District, who shared their visions and hopes for the future of local parks.
A total of 80 people attended the in-person workshop and 61 participated in the individual and small group discussions. During the session, attendees completed individual surveys and then engaged in small group discussions to review and synthesize their responses. The results of these individual and group activities are included in the broader survey analysis.
To ensure broad community participation, a recording of the workshop presentation was made available on the project website following the event. The survey remained accessible online and in paper format at various city recreation facilities through May 13, 2025. Outreach efforts included promotions via the city’s website, social media channels, Discover recreation guide, signage at recreation centers and key public locations, and distribution of flyers throughout the community.
In total, 94 community members completed the Workshop #1 survey, providing valuable input to guide the development of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
